steppin(g) workshop coming Mid March 2026
We are currently organizing Steppin(g) workshops to begin in mid March. The workshops will be instructed by master Steppin(g) instructor and movement coach, Rell Burks-Murphy, M.S. ED.
Workshops will be designed for busy professionals who desire to learn to Step in a shorter period of time, in more inviting settings. If you have “two left feet,” the combination of movement coaching and Steppin(g) instructions fused together make this an easy and unique way for you to learn to Step.
Rell has a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Performing Arts and a Master’s Degree in Dance Instruction. Her postgraduate studies focused on “educating the adult learner,” dance performance, and choreography. Over the past 30 years she has taught a variety of dance styles and age groups. Her instruction career has included college level dance and theatre instruction (as an adjunct professor in Chicago), movement coaching and choreography for theatres and individual playwrights, programmer for teen programs such as NYSP, and work as an independent contractor for programs at community centers, libraries, and park districts. Rell has also auditioned and participated in performance rehearsals for the Chicago Bulls professional dance team “the Chicago Luvabulls.” She has been represented by Chicago talent agents for work in movies and industrial commercials.
Her combination of studies in dance, experience as a professional dancer, and work with various age groups has led to her extraordinary ability to recognize, analyze, and correct movement challenges quickly.
The workshops will allow you to unlock and use movement skills you’ve naturally developed over time so you learn more quickly. You’ll learn the basics of dance simultaneously as you learn to Step.
Come learn to dance while discovering the rhythm and style of this intriguing dance called Steppin(g). You’ll receive individualized instruction, even while in the group sessions, but private sessions are available as well.
